he had been a hard charger at an investment firm in the Pacific Palisades. if you were to weigh all of it, he had made literally a ton of money. and yet the suit never quite fit. everyone had a plan for him, there was seldom time for a real conversation. his wife wanted more cash and the gardener. the gardener wanted more cash and his wife. his boss wanted higher projections of more cash. he and his cash sought nothing now but adventure. he left work at lunch on thursday and snaked the shiny 930 south on sunset blvd. he had turned right on to PCH over three thousand times toward his home in malibu. he sat in a trance through two stoplight cycles and then hung a left toward marina del rey. he gave the turbo it’s reins now, blew through venice, and pulled up along side the sixty foot Oyster yacht that he had secretly aquired in the last three months. he scribbled on the car title and left the keys in the ignition. he boarded and opened up the boat,and fired and warmed the yanmar, he hailed stan the dock hand on 16 and explained he was now a porsche owner. and then he simply vanished.
